It's good that you're looking at the bright side. I hope you'll get more opportunities to use what you learned while doing it - and of course, as Camilla says, you got to read a lot of good stories and discover new authors in the process, which can't be a bad thing.
Plus, in the near future my first translation will be published and that will raise my profile somewhat, especially if I were to pursue doing an anthology of very recent Latin American (including Brazil) spec fic.
