Kaladin was very similiar to Kelsier from Mistborn, I felt, both in background and behavior. Kept expecting him to die in the later chapters. I'm actually surprised, given Sanderson's mass killing of major characters in Mistborn, that none of the main characters died, though of course he's got nine more books to do that in :P

His attitude and demeanor was incredibly similar. Maybe now we'll know what Kelsier would have been like had he lived! ;)
