Would something like Austen work, being all about love and whatnot?
Sure, that might do nicely. Would you recommend a specific book, or just anything by her? Ordinarily, my first inclination might be Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, but I don't think that really qualifies here.
I want to read that too, but I was actually thinking of the boring old Pride and Prejudice. If you're prejudiced (harhar) against older writing, you may not like it, but it is an excellent novel. It's a (mostly) light-hearted look into the way life was lived back in the day, but also has some of the accompanying drama. And I can't tell you much else w/o giving things away, but I'm going to marry Mr. Darcy.
It is on an internet list of best classic romance, so, of course, it's totally good to go.
Who's up for a wee challenge?
