and non-standard SFF fare. And since most of the authors who write mainstream fantasy/SF happen to be male, there's indeed not that many discussion of female authors, but I don't think the gender is the important factor there.
I mean, don't get me wrong, your efforts to promote authors and books that most people wouldn't otherwise hear about are appreciated, and I think almost everyone here has already discovered some authors thanks to you that they liked (in my case, I really liked Kelly Link for instance). But discussion of such books is always going to be relatively low-key, except perhaps if we can get the Book Clubs to work well again, and pick some books of such authors for a Book Club.

I wouldn't pin too much hopes on Book Clubs for generating discussions. I think the point of my post was overlooked to a degree - that being that 1) I noticed something that I've been working actively for months to address in my own reading, 2) I want to have a conversation or three about this here at some point in time.
