Didn't the Science Museum in London already do that?

Also, I thought it was hand powered not steam powered?

They built the "difference engine", which is indeed hand powered, but the "analytical engine", of which the difference engine would be merely a part, was never built. See the Wikipedia article on the analytical engine, which also mentions the current attempt to get it built.
