As I told you, I loved it.

I am glad.

However, I found the idea of the concierge "having" to hide her real self because concierges are never intelligent somewhat difficult to believe. It just doesn't feel right in this day and age. I could definitely have believed it in the 70s, and even 80s, but certainly not in what must be the late 90s or early 2000s.

I had some issues with that as well. I explained it away by attributing it to her as a delusion. She has other issues, so why not this?

I didn't have any problem with the English translation. None of it felt out of place in the book, and I thought it flowed just fine.

I loved how precocious Paloma was. She reminds me of my little sister, although Gabrielle doesn't need to hide her intelligence.

Hehe.

And Kakuro was so lovely!

Yes!

Next time I read it I want to have a pot of green tea, some macaroons, and an overstuffed couch in a room with a fire. That would feel perfect.

Indeed.
