1 - Approximately how many books do you read in the average month?

I don't do average months. it varies from 1-2 to 20, and usually without any sort of pattern to it.

2 - Of those books, what ratio would be Sci-fi/Fantasy compared with Not SFF? (Ie SFF:NotSFF)

given the nature of my reading style, I think it is better too look at it in a larger perspective. I'd say perhaps 10-20% is non sff, but that's yearly figures.

3 - (with credit to Tom) Which of these do you read:

Fantasy

Sci-fi

Historical Fiction

Classics

Other fiction stuff (like Ian McEwan, Kazuo Ishiguro etc)

Non-fiction

Newspapers

4 - Do you read every day?

if you include newspapers and stuff like that, sure. Books? No.

5 - Do you find it easy to discuss the books you read?

It would depend on the purpose for the discussion, but, in general, no.

5a - If not, do you know what might make it easier?

See, the problem with in depth discussion for me is that I would have to put effort into my reading to pick up on all the little nuances (because I hate not knowing everything), and really, that takes the fun out of it for me.

6 - Do you buy books as soon as they are published?

Well, if I have been looking into buying them, yes.

7 - What do you like to see in reviews?

¤ A starting point for the story
¤ General impressions of the overall story
¤ Some explanation as to the why of the story

What I do not like is some arbitrary number assignment - it is like grading an exam, people don't actually read the comments, they just find the silly number and files it as 'done'. It also only works as an indicator of whether or not the book is good if you really know how the reviewer rates books, which essentially makes it pointless...

I also hate it when reviews are littered with quotes. If I wanted quotes, I would have read the book. :P (Sorry Larry ;) )
