Can I start a book that fits within one of the categories for the challenge a little before the new year as long as I finish it in January?
Would that be cheating?
Don't forget that the real point of all these challenges is to have interesting content discussions on the board in the coming year.
Whether you start the book in December or in January is really quite immaterial for that.

Preferably not. But we can be tolerant if you're running out of time.

But the challenge-books can count towards the 50 and the book you'd been meaning to read.
