I can't really speak with any authority on the quality of the translation, as I only speak and read English. But I found the work to be thoroughly readable, and an excellent insight into the mind of perhaps the most perplexing Emperor in the history of the Roman Empire.

As for Antinous, yes, I am sure that, once Hadrian's infatuation died down, they would both have moved on, if the boy had lived.

If the human brain were so simple we could understand it, we would be so simple we couldn't understand it.
