it still boils down to the fact that most teachers will not use a book with word nigger in it random thoughts Send a noteboard - 08/01/2011 02:55:29 AM
So the choice is simple censor one word that has changed in usage since it was written or in affect censor the entire book. Your argument pretty much boils down to you think blacks just need to suck it up and listen to little white kids use the word nigger. I think I should be able to fly a rebel flag in front of house without being considered a racist but I can't. Blacks in this country were treated poorly enough that I think they have earned the right to demand we don't use the one word that was most often used to degrade them and make them sub-human.

Feel free to go find a very large black man and explain to him why he just needs to suck it if you want his kid to sit and listen to white kids say nigger no matter who wrote the words. Tell me before you do though because I want to bring my camcorder. Should be entertaining.

There's a difference between a kids' version and a normal version with a censored word, though. *NM* - 04/01/2011 11:19:26 PM 523 Views

No, the goal of the book (or one of them) was to illustrate authentic dialogue. Your brain sucks. - 04/01/2011 11:49:13 PM 1130 Views
