I didn't mind The Importance of Being Earnest too much Brian Send a noteboard - 23/01/2011 08:38:14 AM
I've never read The Picture of Dorian Gray, but I loved The Importance of Being Earnest.

And I hated Frankenstein. :P

I think Wilde was much more suited to plays than novels. More than anything I find Dorian Gray to be a chore when I try to read it. I'm going to persevere and finish it, but if what I've read so far is any indication, I'm not going to enjoy doing so.

As far as Frankenstein goes.....I absolutely adore that book. It's one of my favorite old books out there. In fact as far as older books go, it's probably number three on my list of favorites after Heart of Darkness (not that old, but old enough for me to call it oldish) and Beowulf. :P (I'm sure if I thought on it longer it would be bumped down a little further, but I do think quite highly of it.)

There's really only one high fantasy classic, no? Or two, if you count the Silm separately. *NM* - 23/01/2011 01:35:03 PM 442 Views
Perhaps Gormenghast? - 23/01/2011 01:58:50 PM 1060 Views

You can't love all of the classics, but it's not like it's a genre of its own that you can dislike. - 23/01/2011 12:32:01 AM 1064 Views
