I asked this same question a few months ago. Gher Send a noteboard - 01/02/2011 05:31:20 AM
Aemon told me to look at the Sony Readers. I know, it sounds crazy because they cost more and have no wireless. But my PRS 650 is incredible. I love it. The battery lasts forever, the touch screen means navigation is easy and the device isn't much bigger than the screen. The wireless really isn't an issue, I don't mind using a usb cable to load books, because I get books from a variety of places (Project Gutenberg, Google, Borders), not just the Sony store.

Before I really looked at the Sonys, I thought the same thing you did. The Kindle seemed like a better device but the Nook gave you more freedom and choices. Amazon's DRM wasn't what pushed me away from the Kindle, but the fact that they wouldn't let it use epubs did.

Honestly, take a look at the new Sonys. Or another if you wrote them off.
