Oh!And the Harry Dresden books. Wizard detective! Don't roll your eyes, it's awesome, becomes suitably epic, and has some great characters and humor.
First couple books are good, but they become amazing at book... 3, I want to say.
I've always kind of mentally categorized them into "Urban Fantasy I don't Want to Read," but I don't really know that much else about them. Are they for serious good?

Erikson's books are fantastic, but the characterization could not be more different than WoT's.

I enjoyed the book but I don't think his prose were as good as Jordan's

Honestly, they kind of remind me of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, if Giles was the main character.
