I'd pass along any extensive dictionary published recently; too many of our youth today seem totally ignorant of the English language, especially in America.

I came across <a href="http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2011/mar/28/books-for-the-next-generation">this</a> at the Guardian, and it made me think about things like canonicity for a moment. I figured the best way to get it out of my head would be to turn it into a survey here and make you think about it instead.
I cannot help seeing it as a two-part question.
The question is, if you could only pass on one book to the next generation, which would it be. But I feel there is a difference between books that have already been handed down and given the status of classics, and the books you have come across on your own (to a greater extent) because you were alive when they were published.

If you had to choose one book among the books published in your lifetime, which would it be?
