My two cents. j-whitt987 Send a noteboard - 20/05/2011 06:41:47 PM
I was given, as a gift, the last 3 books in Stephen King's Dark Tower series. I'm not one for reading books out of order, so can anyone advise me on whether I should invest the time and effort in acquiring the first 6 (?) books of the series? Is it a good read? I have never read anything by Stephen King before. Thanks.

I have read them and loved them. The first book is weirdly written (it was apparently one of the first books he ever wrote), but after the beginning of book two it really picks up. The first two books are mainly set up for the last few. If you can make it through the first book I think you will enjoy the rest of the series. Even knowing how great the series gets I find it difficult to read much of "The Gunslinger" (Book 1).

I'd say give it a chance since you already have the last three books. Maybe pick it up from your local library or borrow it from a friend.
Kirk: Spock, you want to know something? Everybody’s human.
Spock: I find that remark…insulting.
