I may take a break and go back to something German before going on to Book III, but I have to say that the books are light and fun. It's like a historical version of George Martin. They're certainly not serious literature but I have enjoyed reading them so far. I suspect the rest of the books will continue like this (though I hear Book VII is of somewhat dubious quality). I've breezed through the first two in...five days I guess, and that's despite having a lot of work.
