I am constructing a course on Dickens, and so started wondering what I could expect people to have read. I would therefore be very happy if you could reply even if you haven't read anything.

Have you read any Dickens?

I have

What have you read?

Great Expectations and A Tale of Two Cities

Have you heard of any (other) Dickens novels?

Yes, millions.

Wow. Clearly I have missed some.
Which ones?

Why have you not read them?

I have problems following when each sentence is roughly three paragraphs long.

His sentences aren't that long! Compared to some modernists he is positively terse.

What is your perception of Dickens?

I enjoyed ToTC, but I hated GE (had to read for school). All I can really remember is that I wasn't drawn in for some reason. I think maybe I should try one now to see what happens.

Indeed. Read Edwin Drood and tell me what you think.

Have you seen any film/series versions of Dickens' novels?

Yes. Oliver Twist, Christmas Carol, GE, and I'm sure others as well.

Pick one word that you connect with Dickens. What is it?

Talky.

I'm sure that is helpful.
