What the Dickens? snoopcester Send a noteboard - 15/06/2011 05:15:57 PM
I am constructing a course on Dickens, and so started wondering what I could expect people to have read. I would therefore be very happy if you could reply even if you haven't read anything.

Have you read any Dickens?

Yes

What have you read?

A Tale of Two Cities and A Christmas Carol

Have you heard of any (other) Dickens novels?

No, he did more? :P

Why have you not read them?

Not got around to it yet.

What is your perception of Dickens?

Old, dead man, like writing about poor children. And Ghosts.

Have you seen any film/series versions of Dickens' novels?

Several, can't recall which ones though.

Pick one word that you connect with Dickens. What is it?

Dead?

Robert Graves "There is no money in poetry, but then there is no poetry in money, either."

Henning Mankell "We must defend the open society, because if we start locking our doors, if we let fear decide, the person who committed the act of terror will win"
