I didn't really like what he was saying sometimes, but he did tell a good story in that book. And he didn't shove shit down my throat. He told his messages through his story, instead of just rambling on about it for ages.

That's what I always referred to as his "preaching". How he'd just start rambling off his values through a character's thoughts, or a description of how the magic was working, or something like that. I think that's just lazy authorship. I mean, come on dude. Show not tell applies to themes too, not just descriptions 9_9
