But that wasn't why I stopped reading him. That only made me glad I stopped reading his books and feeding the yeard.
What made me stop reading him was two things?
1) Repeated plot. Sure the details were different, but it was the same damn plot for like 9 novels. Kahlan (on occasion Richard) gets kidnapped or poisoned. Some quest must be performed to find her/him/antidote. When he finally gets near then end and backed into a corner, Richard Deus Ex Machina'ed some magic (always because nobody told him he couldn't do that). The end. Zedd was the only character that was interesting, but even he couldn't carry the series.
2. I am used to quality of writing that is MUCH higher either in terms of word usage or characterization and description. Goodkind seems to only need a low level reading ability, like 4th or 5th grade. His books never once made me think, because the themes he wants to get across are beat over your head until you are unconscious, then when you wake up, he beats you some more.
