Reading. Yeah, I remember that. Tom Send a noteboard - 10/10/2011 06:27:36 PM
I got a chance to read and ended up reading that very disappointing Norwich book on the popes. That means Anna Karenina and Der Zauberberg are pretty much where I left them (500 pages done and 200 pages, respectively).

At this point, my goal for the rest of the year is very, very limited: finish Druon's Les Rois Maudits (two books left but very little interest in the series anymore; Druon is a bad version of Dumas, has terrible descriptions and has now made the plot section boring), finish what I'm reading now and read Nietzsche's Zarathustra. If I can get that done before New Year's, I'll consider that, even though my reading challenge failed, I at least read 10 books in both French and German and read something significant in Russian that I hadn't read before.

If I had it to do over again, I'd skip Norwich and George Martin, and probably that awful Brecht play.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
