Where he held this up as his "easy read" book. He said he had been criticised for being too erudite and people had said that he would sell more if he wrote easier books; then he had written Loana, which was an easy read, and it had sold less than any of the others.
I really liked this book. It feels very whole.
Eco did fine, but the interviewer seemed clueless at times. Fitting, considering what book he helped write.
I liked it for being "personal" without ever becoming treacly.

I have to agree with him - either this or Baudolino.

I found his pop culture in Loana obscurer than the legends in Baudolino.

I think at that time American comics were indeed relatively well-known in Europe.
