I was gonna say, huh, your mom is a fantasy writer? But turns out that by "no dragons or battles" you didn't merely mean a different kind of fantasy, but not speculative fiction at all.

But the description (on Random House's website) doesn't sound half bad. And having a mother who's a successful novelist is pretty cool either way, I should think... well, except if her books would be really embarrassing, I guess.

Oh no not at all fantasy. That'd be too good to be true! But it actually wasn't at all bad even though I would categorize it as old lady fiction

Having an author mom is awesome. You get to hear about the inner workings of publishing and hear ideas of books in the making. That and the fact that your own mother is a successful author receiving good(and bad) reviews, fan-mail(That part is REALLY cool) and the Barnes and Noble Discover Pick and Target Emerging Authors.

Oh and my username is what it is because I couldn't think of a better username...I'm not trying to be obnoxious.
