I have nothing really to add. The book frightened me (I was about 14 or 15 when I read it and didn't sleep that night). From what I remember of it the book portrayed Jack's descent into madness quite convincingly, enough to freak me out. We won't talk about the atrocious movie made with Jack Nicholson. :)

Enjoy Rage, it was the original school shooting before school shootings and an excellent novella as were all four novels in the Bachman Books.
But wine was the great assassin of both tradition and propriety...
