Battle Royale is a LOT closer to the plot of The Hunger Games than anything else you mentioned is to Battle Royale. I don't need to read the newer novel to know that you can't improve on what is perhaps one of the most sick and twisted novels and films out there. It is brilliant.
The movie is incredibly fun to watch (and I quote from wikipedia) :
In 2009, Quentin Tarantino listed the film as his favorite film released since he began directing in 1992.
