After the brief (and distant) siglo de oro the entire country of Spain just seemed to go into terminal decline, including its culture. Latin American literature has sort of picked up the torch as far as the language is concerned, but of course I frequently find that distasteful for ideological reasons and end up enjoying guys like Horacio Quiroga.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.
