So I guess I'll make it a survey since ultimately I'm wondering what other people do. Please elaborate as much as possible.

1. How do you make room for new books in your home?

Put them where they don't go. For example, I'm currently thinking about taking ugly ones and wrapping them in pretty paper, then putting them on a bookshelf above the headboard of the bed in the spare room. That way I can keep books, but use them in attractive ways.

2. If you get rid of old books, how do you figure out what to get rid of?

I have had to get rid of most of my books (traveling with them would suck), and I don't like it. I think it's always going to be highly personal and not fun. You'll have to decide, but I know I keep the most nostalgic books and purge those I don't think I will read or didn't absolutely love.

3. Are there books that you aren't sure why you keep but can't bear to get rid of or put into storage?

Yes. I <3 books. It is a disease.
