And have also read Night of Knives and Return of the Crimson Guard. What do you figure should be next in the Malazan universe - this, or Stonewielder / Orb, Sceptre, Throne? Have to say this one sounds rather more appealing...


The two Esslemont books would fit around the 9th and final books in the main sequence. I read Stonewielder right after its publication and it set up something interesting within The Crippled God. Orb, Sceptre, Throne happens in parallel with part of The Crippled God.

So with that in mind, perhaps read those at your leisure?
