That was my general take when I blogged about it a few days ago Larry Send a noteboard - 19/01/2013 02:42:33 PM
For example, I'm surprised why Madame Bovary isn't higher on the list, and why Ayn Rand made it at all given the fact that virtually no one who reads her books really LIKES them; they just like the philosophy or they don't. A few of them I've never even heard of, too.

Also, I was surprised to see that no one at this board was talking about having any reading challenges for 2013.

I've read something close to 75% of those books and own a few more. Most I could see appearing on there, but a few were just oddballs (Martin and Rand being the two most obvious examples).

As for a reading challenge, I didn't post mine here, but I did on my blog:

If this board had more activity, I'd propose doing a list similar to this one - 19/01/2013 11:34:41 AM 684 Views
A good list, though some of the choices are surprising. - 19/01/2013 02:36:20 PM 470 Views

The utter lack of Eliot is a scandal. - 19/01/2013 11:12:52 PM 444 Views
You could do a list - 19/01/2013 02:38:12 PM 423 Views

Some of those wouldn't be "obvious" for me - 19/01/2013 04:58:15 PM 553 Views
I dare say any non-English novel that would appear on such a list, would be available in translation - 19/01/2013 10:39:04 PM 435 Views
That seems probable - 20/01/2013 04:11:22 AM 418 Views
That seems a decent list. - 20/01/2013 05:26:11 PM 435 Views
