I suppose I could Larry Send a noteboard - 19/01/2013 02:46:20 PM
Top 20 sci-fi, top 20 fantasy, top 20 series, etc but I'd guess they'd tend to resemble existing lists. It might be interesting to see, and the quickpoll could probably be used for it

Thing is, if my choices were to make up a substantial part of any list, it would involve a lot of selections that would be obscure to many. But I suppose asking people to list their Top 10/20 lit and 10/20 SF/F might generate something, although I suspect it'd be an odd list in terms of critical/pop lists.

For example, I would list Borges on both hypothetical lists. Very few multi-volume fantasies would make it. Lit list would have fewer Anglo-American works and more Latin American ones. Likely wouldn't provide as much a common ground from which one could then explore the works they haven't yet read themselves.

If this board had more activity, I'd propose doing a list similar to this one - 19/01/2013 11:34:41 AM 685 Views
A good list, though some of the choices are surprising. - 19/01/2013 02:36:20 PM 470 Views
That was my general take when I blogged about it a few days ago - 19/01/2013 02:42:33 PM 584 Views
The utter lack of Eliot is a scandal. - 19/01/2013 11:12:52 PM 445 Views

Some of those wouldn't be "obvious" for me - 19/01/2013 04:58:15 PM 554 Views
I dare say any non-English novel that would appear on such a list, would be available in translation - 19/01/2013 10:39:04 PM 436 Views
That seems probable - 20/01/2013 04:11:22 AM 419 Views
That seems a decent list. - 20/01/2013 05:26:11 PM 436 Views
