Need some help with this World War I reading/reviewing project I'm planning for the summer Larry Send a noteboard - 13/01/2014 03:20:14 AM

Yesterday on my blog, I posted the basic parameters of this project. Starting in June and going through August, I would like to write a series of posts about World War I and the literature it inspired. I already have a few histories in mind (but feel free to suggest more) and some of the poetry associated with the war, but I would like to have a rich list of fictions that deal with the war. It doesn't matter if these fictions were written in the early 20th century or the early 21st century, as I'm interested in seeing how views of the war change (or not) over the intervening century. While it'd be easier, obviously, if the works were in English/English translation, I can read virtually all of the major Romance languages and I still retain some knowledge of German, so if there are works not available in translation that you would suggest, I can look for them in those languages. If there are stories set on the Eastern Front, I would especially love those, as I want to cover all the fronts as seen in literature, if at all possible.

The link below contains titles that have already occurred to me or suggestions already made to me. If you have any titles to suggest, list them here or on the blog (I accept Anon comments, if you're not registered with Blogger). Thanks for any and all suggestions given.

P.S. I know I left out Hašek's book, but I haven't yet looked up the spelling of the full title.
