Nabokov's The Original of Laura Tom Send a noteboard - 08/10/2009 08:19:01 PM
Hi Rafonauts

I believe it's "RAFhOles".

It's time to organise our first Read and Find Out Book Club!

People with clubs get killed by people with guns.

Make suggestions here for what you think we should read for November. Remember that it should be something that people are able to get their hands on and it shouldn't cost the earth.

Well, I would say Doctor Zhivago but no one seems to want to read it. How about Nabokov's The Original of Laura? It's coming out in November.

We'll take submissions until Friday next week (midnight RAFO time) and then run a Quick Poll on it the Monday following (that's 19 October). Hopefully we'll be able to run that for more than one day but we'll see. ;)

We'll let you know the final choice on Thursday 22 October and then you'll have nearly a month to get reading - loads of time!

My money says it's likely the RAFhOles will pick some idiotic fantasy or sci-fi book.

The Book Club will officially open on Monday 16 October, barring some kind of world catastrophe and/or Armageddon.

Thanks. :)
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

You have a very strange definition of classics... *NM* jh - 09/10/2009 01:20:37 AM 691 Views
Replace "strange" with "erroneous" and I'll agree with you. Tom - 09/10/2009 02:09:27 AM 1345 Views
