I stopped listening to audiobooks many, many years ago -- mostly because they were read by mediocre actors who were no fun to listen to. Reading it myself was much better. But. Neil Gaiman or Nick Cave reading their own work is something other than the run-of-the-mill audiobooks. It is something else. A separate art form?

There are lovely books read by Stephen Fry (does he do Harry Potter audio books? I know someone marvellous does.) and other people of that ilk. But usually they are pretty rubbish.

I think audiobooks would be great for people with babies so I'm really hoping some excellent ones are released in the next couple of years. ;)
