Him and the Marsh Queen have the most room for development. It will be interesting to see just what Scholes does with those characters. They are certainly set up to be those standard fantasy trope "kids that grow up to save the world" types. But, I think Scholes can and will write them more deeply and interestingly than that same old story.

That is what I'm hoping for.

Neb is an interesting character. He is a witness to unknowable horror. He is an orphan that knew his father... and was orphaned again. He has lost. He has learned. Not only does the loss of his past mark him, but he lost the father figure in Petronus and has been cut loose from all his ties to the past.

The dreaming, the Homeseeker, Winters... yes, Neb should be interesting. Oh, and he is interesting in CANTICLE. :P

I can't wait to read Canticle I may have to buy the hard cover rather than wait a whole year for the paperback.
