I didn't particularly dislike anyone. nossy Send a noteboard - 16/11/2009 09:01:30 PM
Kvothe, Erlodin, Bast, Chronicler, Denna, Ambrose etc.

Well, Ambrose yeah, but I don't count him.

I liked Kvothe. He was interesting and oddly embarrassable. I liked his interactions with the professors, except for the jerky one whose name I can't remember. That character seems too BeenThereDoneThat to me. Bleh.

I liked Bast and Chronicler, but as I said, I didn't exactly like the chapters they were featured in. I especially thought the section with Bast threatening Chronicler had a lot of potential (and some of it was good), but then went a little flat.

I liked Simmon and Wil. They were steady characters, if nothing special. One of my favorite scenes from the whole novel was when he went to win his pipes.

Denna was ok, but I didn't really form a great connection to her either. That probably says a lot about his writing though, because I typically can't stand the "all men love this extraordinarily beautiful female" roles written by men.

I liked the girl from the sewers, and wasn't overly pleased to find out she was a plot device.

I thought I was going to like Elodin, but then that never built up before the end of the story.

The book has been compared with Harry Potter. Do you think this is fair? Why/why not? *NM* - 16/11/2009 08:09:58 AM 636 Views
Unfair. - 16/11/2009 01:48:16 PM 1371 Views

That's a relatively minor complaint. - 17/11/2009 09:59:08 PM 1289 Views
