He's certainly not perfect, has obvious flaws like being overly impetuous, is easily deceived, etc. The things that he is brilliant at (those you mention) are not unlikely to go together.

Will be interesting to see how the character develops as the story goes along.


The fact that he's smart AND good at sympathy are very connected, with the Alar being such an integral part of the magic.

And given his background plus his incredible brilliance, his excellence at music is justified. Especially when it was his coping mechanism to extreme trauma.

I don't think that his brilliance at everything is because he's telling the story. He mentions times at the University that he intentionally spread rumors to bolster his reputation. I think if that was the point of this story, he'd add more rumors and exaggerations.

He's brilliant. He was born with it. But that happens in our world too.
