Are we supposed to view Kvothe as an unreliable narrator?

Or is the framed narrative a way of showing how word-of-mouth distorts the truth and turns ordinary people into heroes?

How did you feel about the structure? Was it annoying? Did it work for you?


I think we should trust Kvothe. For the most part. I think he is actively trying to give an honest account, and not trying to build up his reputation. He may subconciously alter things to make him look better, but I think he is trying to prevent that.


As far as the Interludes are concerned, I'm not sure about them yet. I think we'll have to see more of the story, maybe the whole trilogy to determine whether they were the best way to tell the story.
