My bookshelf is organised not according to genre or the alphabeth or chronology, but according to how it makes sense in my head. Books that feel the same belong together. This is not only based on content, but also on how the book looks. I can have books by one author in several different locations.

Which means that when I'm putting one away, I basically just have to look for the gap.


You mean you ruin the system.

However, our books are arranged alphabetically by author. Books by the same author are oldest-first (which meant that arranging the Pratchett books took some time).

CDs are also alphabetical, but we have a mutual disagreement about whether Gåte goes at the end of the Gs (after Guillemots) or at the beginning. Will you tell her I'm right to put it at the end?


Gåte should go last.

I haven't heard of this "alphabeth" thing, but it sounds interesting – I might check it out. Is it some kind of Greek/Hebrew hybrid?
