46 out of 54 respondents haven't read it, and it's one of those rare sci-fi/fantasy books that actually have depth. Of course, the Quickpoll just reinforces my previously stated beliefs about reading habits.
You know that the current edition is translated from the French translation of the Polish original, right? I think that might have contributed to the sense I had at times that the story was a bit stilted in its presentation.

Why not add Solaris as an option for the January book club for Sci-fi/Fantasy?

I read it in Russian. I expect the translation was smooth and effortless from Polish.
