I don't know how I would feel about the books now that I'm 32 years old and have read so much more but when I was much younger I loved them. I think they are great books for introducing a young reader to fantasy but if you are already into fantasy and have read some of the better stuff out there they just wouldn't cut it. The biggest flaw of the Shannara books is that they are all basically the same story. Terry Brooks wrote the Original Shannara series years ago and then just kept right on cloning it...over and over again.
