So I am beginning to re-read the Dragonriders of Pern series, and am enjoying it possibly more than I have in the past, though at the same time, I am loathe to read some of the books in the series.

I have always enjoyed what I consider the main course of the books, (the original trilogy, flowing into Renegades, all the Weyrs, etc), and enjoy the harper trilogy (I think it's called the harper trilogy at least, Dragonsong, Dragonsinger and Dragondrums).

However, I haven't enjoyed so much the books delving into Pern's past, they are interesting, but don't grab my attention as much, possibly because the characters in them don't grab me as much.

Even with the main course of books, I find myself enjoying the later books less, generally as we see less of F'lar, Lessa, Jaxom and the like, and the newer generation seem to be taking over.

I was wondering if there are other readers of these books out there who feel the same, or if you enjoy all the books equally.
