I heard that there's this new author in town doing this shindig with the new WoT books. And I figure I ought to maybe check him out in his own element before I check him out in Jordan's.
Checking out of up-and-coming authors aside, I'm torn between Elantris and Mistborn as my first reading of Sanderson. Suggestions?

I enjoyed all of Sanderson's works... though, I will admit that he frequently has minor editing issues that bug me. (In both print and online versions)
Warbreaker and Elantris both deal with more political intrigue and have a mystery that must be solved, whereas Mistborn is more about fighting the Big Bad Boss. All three deal with the concepts of religion, faith, and belief... and they all have interesting things to say.
Honestly, if you just want an introduction to his writing style, I would say Warbreaker or Elantris, as they are stand alone novels and definitely convey his style, but if you want to get into him, read them all.
