I heard that there's this new author in town doing this shindig with the new WoT books. And I figure I ought to maybe check him out in his own element before I check him out in Jordan's.

Checking out of up-and-coming authors aside, I'm torn between Elantris and Mistborn as my first reading of Sanderson. Suggestions?


I agree that his dialog is weak, but I think he gets better with each book (Warbreaker was his latest solo gig).

Elantris? Meh.

If you really want to read Mistborn, but only have time for one book, then go ahead and read Book One. It's a good read even as a stand-alone (and, IMO, the best book in the series).
