She's still fuming about Martin being unfinished. However, when it is done I'll recommend it.
Hopefully it'll remain good, but there are only two out of a planned seven (I think) books published so far. The first book is pretty self-contained if you run out of other ideas. No cliffhangers, no dangling threads. The storyline comes to an end, the characters exit stage left. The second book is where the threads of an over-arching plot start to get picked at. But the problem with that is that once a person reads and enjoys the first one, it's pretty hard not to read the next one when you know it's out there.
