I've read up to and including the latest At the Gates of Darkness

Unfortunately after the Serpent War saga the standard does go downhill, although it has been improving again over the last couple of books.

In order I would recommend reading:

The Riftwar Saga

Magician
Silverthorn
A Dakness at Sethanon

The Empire Series with Janny Wurts

Daughter of the Empire
Servant of the Empire
Mistress of the Empire

Prince of the Blood (Original if possible)
The Kings Buccaneer

The Serpent War Saga

Shadow of a Dark Queen
Rise of a Merchant Prince
Rage of a Demon King

Faerie Tale (stand alone book set in 80's New York state)

The Empire series is the best of the lot and I feel it is one of the better fantasy series that are out there. Avoid the Krondor series (based on computer games and it shows) and Riftwar:Legacy (a series of co-written books in which the majority of the writing seems to have been done by the other author), neither series really work well.

If you particularly enjoy his work you can continue on through Shards of a Shattered Crown, Conclave of Shadows, Darkwar and Demonwar.

Once known as Hochopepa
