If memory serves, which it may not:

The scene were Pug wakes up in the Tsurani camp before being taken to Kelewan was omitted from the 1st version. It originally went "and Pug felt himself falling through a rainbow of colors into a pit of darkness" and then the next time we see him is "The dying slave screamed". Which is a far more effective transition I feel. The Tsurani camp scene may provide a bit more insight into the political structure and introduce Tasio, but none of that is relevant at this point, not until the Empire series.

Also the conversation between Tully and Kulgan on the nature of magic and the lost art early in the book was shorter. Again, detail but not too relevant.

At the end of the day though 15,000 words really isn't a lot in a novel, not even 50 pages.
