Doubtful. Tom Send a noteboard - 07/02/2010 01:41:01 AM
East Asian military history had very little impact on the rest of the world prior to the Twentieth Century, whereas European military history was affecting East Asia as early as the Seventeenth Century.

Even when we look at East Asian military history, Sun Zi doesn't appear to affect military thinking in most of the wars fought there in recent times. The only exceptions seem to be that guerrilla warfare in East Asia has followed precepts of Sun Zi, which essentially is Communist movements in China and Southeast Asia exclusively. North Korea certainly never followed Sun Zi, nor is there any evidence that Imperial Japan did. Chiang Kai-Shek didn't follow Sun Zi.
Political correctness is the pettiest form of casuistry.

– Procopius
