I think you have to have reasonable balance random thoughts Send a noteboard - 02/06/2010 05:48:31 PM
I do support reasonable gun safety laws such selling trigger locks with all guns and I believe the person who owns is responsible to make sure the gun is stored safely and should be held responsible when it is not. I own guns and I support gun ownership but I do not support the NRA because their stance is to extreme and they oppose any laws concerning guns.

If we were starting fresh I would be torn between the evils created by civilian gun ownership and personal liberty issue of the right to have the means to defend your family and property. I would probably still come down on the side of gun ownership but I will admit the other side has real and valid concerns.

As for this issue here we need to keep in mind we are talking about real people and not just some political theory. This specific case a man shot and killed someone and the police were able to extract a confession from him without violence and without violating his right to not speak or have an attorney present. If the lower court’s ruling had been upheld a murder would have been released back into the public simply because police had questioned him for three hours even after he didn’t answer right away. I will say again the goal is not to give as many people as possible the chance to get away with murder but to provide everyone reasonable protection from oppressive police tactics.
