she doesn't choose to be a victim out of stupidity, but because she believes him and feels she must protect others.
the news article doesnt mention anyhting of the sort. There is no evidence he threatened to hunt down her loved ones if she didnt sign. She had the guts to call the police when he threatened to kill her after she signed the contract. but since there was no evidence of him threatening her or physically hitting her they couldnt do anything to him. If she had any sense she would have called the police one of the times he had beat her and she could show them the evidence, he would be in jail in that case and there would be no reason for her to supposedly fear for her loved ones. Its as simple as that.

How do you think one goes about negotiating a contract like that?

It's inappropriate for you to judge an abused woman for sticking with her abuser.

Nuh-uh. Obviously she's stupid because she has psychological issues. Or something. *NM*

The problem for women like this one is that leaving the relationship is the most dangerous time.

I don't think that "contract" has any legal standing, but of course IANAL *NM*

There is no way in hell any court would uphold that purported "contract".
