Gates and Chu seem above reproach, of course Gates is a holdover from Bush and Chu is I believe the first SecEnergy who actually holds a Ph.D. in science, but Vilsack is fine at Agriculture, Locke at commerce, and General Shinseki at veterans affairs are all good choices - admittedly these aren't notoriously political posts and the cabinet really isn't the president's inner circle these days, but that's about half the cabinet.
